and its already May?

Weird weird weird! Time has FLOWN! Mom is gone :( but we had such a great time!!

Monday was Jenna's birthday so we had pizza and soda party for her with the parents. Then, we put them in a taxi and said our good byes and then me, Jenna, Duncan, and Tell headed over to Volta hall to see the California girls (from the UC system- they all live together seperately from all of the other international students) to go chill and celebrate Cinco De Mayo!! It was really fun and then we came back and played cards and ate cake :)

Tuesday I walked around with Jesse and April talking to professors, the counseling center, and the gender studies department to talk about sexual harrasment on campus. There have been a lot of recent reports of both Ghanaian and International students being harassed by professors on campus, some of which is long-range, one department is even known for it to the point that students coming into the school already know. As students and women a group of us have decided to look into the issue and see what we could try to do about the issue. We've sorta agreed on having some type of formal discussion/debate/brainstorm to come up with resources and ideas for how women on campus can be helped in the future, probably with the result being a handout or flier with resources. We walked ALL over campus and got a few good leads but nothing too promising. We'll see how that pans out. After that, Tell and I went to 37 (one of the tro-tro stops where there is a produce stand and a food store) to get some produce and then into MaxMart to get stuff to make Mexican food for Jenna's actual birthday celebration! We came back and made fajitas, salsa, guacamole, rice, refried beans! Yum! It was really fun and Jenna really liked it. Then we had the Ghana version of a Killer Cookie for all you Elon kids (aka a hot, melted cookie with ice cream and chocolate syrup on top) but ours was the best peanut butter brownie ever with fan ice and nutella type stuff on top! So good!

Today, just class and drumming for the first time in like 3 weeks (they went on strike because they weren't getting paid enough..)

This weekend: getting back our passports from the visa renewal office, hanging out, swimming, maybe a day trip to Aburi Botanical Gardens to go biking? Let you know how that goes!!
