So this might have been the most relaxing, amazing weekend ever. On Thursday Dunc Tell and I headed to circle at 6 am to get a tro-tro to Takradi to get a tro-tro to Agona Junction to get a tro-tro to Green Turtle Lodge. We got to Takradi, walked around for a while to find Dunc a bank- what a cute, cool city/town! The people were so friendly, it was quieter and slower paced- I liked it a lot. We got to Green Turtle and headed right into the ocean! We swam and played- read and relaxed- frisbeed and soccered- slept and ate. Awesome. We had delicious grilled swordfish with rice and mango/avocado salsa for $5. No joke. And banana fritters? With Ghanaian honey? Um. Yes.
Friday we did the same thing all over again! Woke up to French toast with more honey and a grilled banana. Tell and Dunc played like 485734 games of chess and I read the Devine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood and laughed outloud. We swam some more, I tried to do some studying. A storm started to blow in so we headed for cover and watched it rain and rain. We played some cards (spa of course!) and ate yummy fish marsala for dinner- and chocolate fondu :) Then we just hung out in our room, played more cards, had a good heart to heart session. It was so fun and relaxing. We kept going to bed SO early so we thought it was like maybe 11 pm (a late night) when we stopped chatting and got ready for bed but it was 2:30! Haha that’s a lot of bonding.
Saturday= more French toast, more beach, more tanning, more reading. Taught the boys me and mom’s favorite dice game but then we just played our own version of yahzee with the scoring based off of my memory- good thing that game is a staple in my house or else we woulda been out of luck! We took a walk down the beach at sunset and Tell decided he needed a coconut- so of course, he started climbing trees! Finally he got a few and we went to this abandoned area with huts and a concrete stage to try to break them. The boys worked hard and out of the blue these two little girls showed up- maybe like 4 and 7 years old? They were adorable. They saw how much work we were doing so the little one ran off and came back with a machete! So hilarious. The older one just wanted to stand with me, hold my hand, touch my hair- it was so cute. I loved them. They laughed and shared the coconut with us- I was sad to leave them! But we made it back to Green Turtle only to find more swordfish and palaver sauce waiting for me ! and more fritters. Yum. We slept in tents that night- not as good as our room with two beds- and the boys had holes in their mosquito net so they came into my tent and that was a little squishy.. but ok.
This morning we woke up, swam/played football more- more French toast- yes I am an addict. We headed to the village down the road to get a tro-tro back to Agona. The people were really nice and we didn’t have to wait too long surprisingly. I was a little doubtful but as usual in Ghana, everything worked out perfectly. We got to Agona and quickly found one to Takradi- got on that and quickly found one to Accra! Loooong day but finally we made it back to Accra in the POURING rain!! Intense. We were soaked to say the least- and especially when we got off the tro-tro at campus and had to WALK to get a cab at the main gate. Our cab driver was like ugh the storm beat you. you make my seats wet. And we were like yes, yes it did and yes, yes we are. Sorry about it.
This week- drumming exam Wednesday and first real exam Saturday. Wish me lots of luck!

Which one is the clown and which is the joker? Say hello to the "boys" for me, love you, Mom
Ah it's what I've taught you all along after all---the right tool(machete) for the right job (opening the coconut). Those girls were so smart and you were so lucky they found you in your moment of need. As you like to say it was so much like Ghana---everything works out. Glad you found time to make it to Green Turtle Lodge---it sounds spectacular! Your description makes me hungry (hahaha) See you soon...Love, daddy o
